One thing that is constantly changing is computer technology. We are now able interface computers with virtually anything. Scientists are working on integrating computers into our human bodies. Is this right? I don’t know. But the Church will soon need to decide whether or not computing infringes with God’s plan.

Computers were developed as a numeric computation tool, data storage, or communicational tool. The same principles are found today, however it seems more natural – more excepted than it was even just 10 years ago.

The Internet is now a major form of communication with social networking sites such as Myspace or Facebook. Information can be passed within a matter of seconds. Voice and video has become even more popular than traditional text-based sites as faster connection speeds enable us to send much more data over a line than imagined before at such a reasonable price.

The physical shape and size has changed over the years. Upon it’s invention, a single computer would take up an entire room and only have a fraction of the capacity of a standard desktop computer today. Now we have laptops, mobile devices, and tablets – enabling us to access information in more remote places or while we are on the move.
The industry tendency is to create a more natural interface. For example, a touch screen, a human interacts using fingers or a stylus. Maybe in the future, we will rely less on the keyboard, but actually revert back to pen or simply dictate what you want to write – a much more flexible way of communicating.

I want to see how this field progresses, and I actually want to be part of this field. I want to design the latest and be on the bleeding edge of it all. I want to really know how this technology works.

As with all things, technology must be used in a responsible manner… so use my motto – “Don’t do anything stupid.”
